Peter Burge, the High Performance Manager of Hawthorn, has given updates on several players ahead of Round 16 in the club’s Injury Update.
Ethan Phillips (Knee) – Ready to play:
“Ethan underwent minor knee surgery recently to address a loose body issue. Since the procedure, he has been feeling excellent. He participated fully in last Saturday’s training session and will continue training this week. He’s fully available for the upcoming game.”
Jack O’Sullivan (Hamstring) – Ready to play three quarters:
“After a six to seven week absence due to a hamstring injury, Jack has had a productive week of training. He is set to play three quarters in the upcoming weekend match, which is a positive step forward.”
Max Ramsden (Ankle) – Under test:
“Max had an ankle issue following the Richmond VFL game before the bye week, but it has since settled down. He trained today and will continue training later this week. He is on track to be available for selection this weekend pending further assessment.”
Ned Reeves (Back) – Under test:
“Ned has received effective treatment over the past week and a half for his back issue. He has resumed training gradually and will increase his workload throughout the week. A decision on his availability for the weekend will be made based on his progress.”
Chad Wingard (Calf) – Under test:
“Chad has progressed to light training today following a calf concern. He is currently listed as a test and will undergo further evaluation later this week. His availability for the weekend match remains uncertain at this stage.”
Cooper Stephens (Achilles) – Under test:
“Cooper has dedicated the past six weeks to reconditioning his body and addressing his Achilles issue. He is scheduled to play half a game against Port Melbourne this weekend, pending a successful training week.”
Will McCabe (Back) – Out for 1 week:
“Will has been managing a back issue and, as a precaution, will undergo another week of training before returning to play. This decision also considers the game time management of other returning players like Cooper Stephens and Jack O’Sullivan.”
These updates provide insights into the current status of key Hawthorn players as they prepare for upcoming matches.
