This summer, while much of the spotlight is on Florida State’s 2025 recruiting class, the program is also making significant strides in the upcoming cycle. Currently ranked as the nation’s top class, #Tribe26 continues to build momentum.
On July 4th, Florida State bolstered its lineup with the commitment of Tedarius Hughes, a talented three-star defensive back. Hughes, a rising junior, chose Florida State over offers from Louisville and Syracuse. His recruitment saw involvement from defensive backs coach Patrick Surtain Sr., senior analyst Greg Moss, and defensive analyst Philip Simpson, with Hughes impressing during his recent visit to Tallahassee for the Elite Camp.
Hailing from South Dade High School, Hughes showcased his skills last season with 15 tackles, four interceptions (including one returned for a touchdown), demonstrating exceptional length, strong pre-snap awareness, and elite ball-hawking abilities early in his high school career.
With Hughes on board, Florida State’s 2026 class now boasts five commitments, including standout recruits like four-star quarterback Brady Smigiel, athlete Darryon Williams, wide receiver Efrem White, and Darryll Bell III, all enhancing the Seminoles’ future prospects.
Ranked as the No. 374 overall prospect, No. 32 at safety, and No. 64 in Florida for the 2026 class by 247Sports, Hughes adds depth and talent to FSU’s recruiting efforts as they continue to shape a promising roster for the seasons ahead.
