Hugh Freeze and the Auburn Tigers have secured their second commitment in three days as Jacobe Ward, a 3-star interior offensive lineman, announced his decision to join Auburn during an Instagram Live broadcast on Saturday.
Ward’s commitment adds to Auburn’s recent recruiting successes, following closely on the heels of 3-star tight end Hollis Davidson III’s commitment to the Tigers.
Ward’s recruitment was highly competitive, with Auburn prevailing over rivals LSU and Tennessee to secure his commitment. He made his choice public after narrowing down his options to these three finalists on June 5. Ward visited all three campuses before making his decision, starting with Auburn on June 7.
Before finalizing his decision, Ward received offers from a total of 30 programs, including prominent schools such as Alabama, Colorado, Kentucky, Miami, Missouri, and Ohio State.
Standing at 6-foot-4 and weighing 335 pounds, Ward is ranked by 247Sports as the No. 81 interior offensive lineman in the class of 2025 and the 110th overall prospect in the state of Georgia. His football career includes a notable stint as a starting right tackle for Benedictine Military School in Savannah, Georgia, where he contributed to the team’s Georgia AAAA state championship in 2022. Additionally, Ward showcases his athleticism outside of football by competing in throwing events in track and field, demonstrating his versatility and athleticism.
With Ward’s commitment, Auburn’s 2025 recruiting class now boasts 16 commitments, including a strong contingent of five offensive linemen. Alongside Ward, the Tigers have secured commitments from 4-star Tavaris Dice, 3-star Broderick Shull, 3-star Spencer Dowland, and 3-star Tai Buster, highlighting their focus on strengthening the offensive line for future seasons.
