White Sox Manager Pedro Grifol advocates for Erick Fedde’s inclusion in the 2024 MLB All-Star Game

The White Sox are poised for another potentially transformative trade deadline this season. According to The Athletic, several White Sox players have garnered interest from multiple clubs across the league, with particular focus on veteran starter Erick Fedde.

“It appears veteran starter Erick Fedde is the White Sox player most likely to be traded, with the Cardinals, Orioles, and Braves as the most likely landing spots,” wrote Jim Bowden on Thursday.

Fedde has experienced a remarkable resurgence in his MLB career after spending the 2023 season in Korea with the KBO. During his tenure with the NC Dinos, he captured the league’s MVP award before returning to MLB.

Now with the White Sox, Fedde has rejuvenated his career with an outstanding season on the mound. Across 19 starts and 111.1 innings pitched, Fedde boasts a stellar 2.99 ERA and a 1.132 WHIP. He has struck out 99 batters while issuing 30 walks, compiling a commendable 7-3 record for the White Sox, who currently possess the worst record in MLB.

Fedde represents a valuable asset for GM Chris Getz, who secured him with a two-year, $15 million contract in the offseason. As such, he is viewed as one of the White Sox’s most attractive trade chips, likely to be dealt for prospects before the July 30 deadline.

While Fedde is a prominent name on the trade block, he is not alone. According to reports, Luis Robert Jr. has drawn interest from the Phillies, Dodgers, Giants, and Mariners. All-Star starter Garrett Crochet’s name has surfaced in connection with the Dodgers, Padres, and Astros.

Additionally, speculation surrounds Andrew Vaughn potentially landing with the Mariners or Astros after the deadline, while Michael Kopech is anticipated to join a new team post-deadline.

With a flurry of potential moves on the horizon, the White Sox are preparing for a bustling trade deadline. However, the team remains committed to ensuring any trade yields substantial returns, akin to the successful Dylan Cease deal, ensuring that each transaction aligns with their long-term strategic goals.

As the July 30 deadline approaches, all eyes will be on the White Sox to see how they navigate these pivotal trade discussions.
