Earlier this week, Auburn Live confirmed that 3-star Georgia Tech commit Sam Turner is scheduled to attend Big Cat Weekend on July 27, marking one of Auburn football’s premier recruiting events of the summer.
Hailing from Decatur, Georgia, Turner is ranked as the #74 wide receiver in the 2025 recruiting class and holds the #54 spot among recruits from Georgia. He committed to Georgia Tech on June 9 but received an offer from Auburn football later that month following strong camp performances.
Turner’s upcoming visit to Big Cat Weekend will be his second trip to Auburn, having already taken official visits to Georgia Tech and BYU. With Auburn making a compelling case, there is potential for Turner to reconsider his commitment.
Meanwhile, Auburn football head coach Hugh Freeze has expressed optimism about the team’s progression heading into his second year at the helm. Despite a challenging first season that ended disappointingly, Freeze highlights the youth and talent on the roster, stressing improvements made during the offseason.
“I think if you look at my track record everywhere … we’ve had pretty good jumps from year one to year two,” Freeze noted, emphasizing enhanced team chemistry and confidence among players and coaches alike.
The Tigers are set to commence their 2024 season on August 31 against Alabama A&M at Jordan-Hare Stadium.
