Philadelphia Eagles defensive end Brandon Graham announced on Wednesday that he plans to retire after the conclusion of the 2024 season.
Graham, who was selected as the 13th overall pick by the Eagles in the 2010 NFL Draft, has spent his entire career in Philadelphia, making him the longest-tenured player in team history according to ESPN’s Tim McManus.
Over his 15 seasons with the Eagles, Graham has had a notable career trajectory. Initially seeing increased playing time in his early years, he made 23 starts and recorded a career-high four forced fumbles in 2014. His role expanded further in 2016, becoming a full-time player and starting almost every game over the next five years. During this period, he earned second-team All-Pro honors and was selected to his sole Pro Bowl.
Graham’s impact peaked during the 2017 season, notably in Super Bowl LII against the New England Patriots. He capped off a standout regular season with crucial plays in the championship game, including a game-sealing strip sack of Patriots quarterback Tom Brady in the final minutes.
Despite a setback with a torn Achilles in 2021, Graham returned in 2022 with a career-high 11.0 sacks, placing fourth in the AP Comeback Player of the Year voting and earning two NFC Defensive Player of the Week awards. Even in a reduced role in 2023, he continued to contribute significantly with six quarterback hits, four tackles for loss, and 3.0 sacks.
Graham’s legacy in Philadelphia is cemented not only by his on-field achievements but also by memorable moments like the crucial forced fumble against Tom Brady in Super Bowl LII, forever etching his name in Eagles history.
