In the 2024 NFL Draft, Chicago selected standout prospect Caleb Williams with the first overall pick and bolstered their offense with several key acquisitions during the offseason. While the Bears are already an intriguing team, they might not be finished making moves.
The team has been noted as needing defensive improvements, and Bleacher Report’s Alex Ballentine suggested that acquiring former Philadelphia Eagles Pro Bowler Haason Reddick from the New York Jets could significantly impact the NFC North race this season.
“On paper, the Chicago Bears have transformed into a much different team for 2024,” Ballentine remarked. “Caleb Williams has performed exceptionally well in the preseason, while Keenan Allen and Rome Odunze have added new dimensions to the passing game. The defense, which showed progress under Matt Eberflus last season, will need to advance further for the Bears to claim the division. Acquiring Haason Reddick could be a key move to elevate their defense to the next level.”
Scott Pioli, a former NFL executive, mentioned on Good Morning Football that the Bears were among the teams interested in trading for Matthew Judon from the Patriots. With Judon no longer a viable option, Reddick remains the most prominent trade target available.
Reddick, who was a standout with the Eagles before being traded to the Jets this offseason, has not secured a new deal as he hoped and has not reported to the Jets, even requesting a trade. The outcome of this situation remains uncertain, but a trade to the Bears could be a compelling development.
