The Philadelphia Eagles are currently viewed as one of the leading teams in the hunt for the Super Bowl in 2024. Given their strong position, it’s essential for them to explore all avenues to enhance their roster depth before the season begins.

Philadelphia’s roster is in an excellent state, featuring one of the most formidable lineups in the league with minimal gaps. Their team is filled with talent across all positions, but it’s always beneficial to bolster certain areas, particularly the secondary. A familiar face could be a valuable addition.

Jalen Mills, a former Eagles cornerback and safety, could be a viable option. Mills signed with the New York Giants in free agency earlier this year, but he has since been released and is now available. His potential return to Philadelphia could be advantageous for several reasons.

At 30 years old, Mills still has the capability to contribute effectively. He brings with him a deep understanding of the Eagles’ system and a proven track record with the team. Mills was drafted by Philadelphia in the seventh round of the 2016 NFL Draft and spent the first five seasons of his career with the Eagles. Notably, he was part of the squad that secured the Super Bowl victory over the New England Patriots in 2018.

After his tenure with the Eagles, Mills spent the subsequent three seasons with the New England Patriots but is now seeking a new opportunity following his release. With Philadelphia still possessing ample cap space, signing Mills on a cost-effective deal could prove beneficial. He could offer valuable depth in the safety position, providing reliable support off the bench.

Reuniting with Mills would not only bring back a player who is already familiar with the team’s culture and operations but also add experienced depth to the secondary without a significant financial commitment. Given these factors, it makes sense for the Eagles to consider bringing Mills back into the fold as they aim for another successful season.
