The Michigan Wolverines currently boast the 12th-ranked recruiting class for 2025, with 17 players committed. This ranking is expected to rise as the high school and college football seasons progress. Eli Owens, a three-star tight end and one of the early commitments in January, recently shared insights into what led him to choose Michigan over other top programs.

In an interview with Michael Smeltzer of The Blue Wall, Owens explained his decision-making process:

“I have a lot of respect for Ohio State; I considered them seriously. However, they tend to emphasize their development system as a well-oiled machine, continuously producing players. During my visits, they didn’t address what happens if football doesn’t work out. Michigan, on the other hand, made it a point to discuss this from the very first meeting.”

Owens recounted that during his initial visit to Michigan, before delving into football specifics or touring the facilities, the coaching staff emphasized their commitment to helping athletes prepare for life after football. This focus on long-term support was a key factor in his decision.

He praised Michigan’s approach to recruiting, noting that the program provides clarity on how they support players beyond their athletic careers. “When I was at Ohio State, they never talked about life after football. At Michigan, it was one of the first topics we covered,” Owens said.

In other recruiting news, Michigan’s 2025 class received a significant boost on Tuesday with the addition of four-star wide receiver Andrew Marsh. Ranked as the 66th overall player and the 10th-best wide receiver in the class, Marsh is the 17th commitment and the third-highest rated recruit for Michigan. He is also the eighth four-star prospect to join the Wolverines’ class, which includes nine three-star recruits.

Marsh, noted for his explosive speed and athleticism, also considered offers from Kentucky, Texas, USC, and Washington before choosing Michigan. His commitment further strengthens the Wolverines’ recruiting efforts and adds a dynamic playmaker to their future roster.
