Rookie Braelon Allen showcased his power and speed at training camp, embodying the physicality of a 235-pound running back. He bulldozed through defenders with a stiff-arm and made a significant gain by bursting through the middle, proving he could be an ideal complement to three-down starter Breece Hall.
Meanwhile, the New York Jets’ offensive line struggled during the first day of full-pad practices. Both Aaron Rodgers and Tyrod Taylor faced heavy pressure, with Rodgers being “sacked” on consecutive plays and again in a red-zone drill. The practice, dominated by the defense, ended with Tanzel Smart adding to the pressure by “sacking” Taylor.
Issues persisted with the snapping game, as center Joe Tippmann sent several high snaps towards Rodgers, disrupting the timing of plays. Head coach Robert Saleh noted the need for improvement in this area.
Rodgers, visibly frustrated, expressed his displeasure with his teammates during practice. Tight end Tyler Conklin attributed Rodgers’ reaction to his commitment to holding everyone accountable. Despite completing 8 of 13 passes, Rodgers threw an interception to Chuck Clark and had a moment of discomfort when his foot was stepped on by an offensive lineman, causing him to fall while reaching for a handoff.
