A video has surfaced showing San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Ricky Pearsall walking toward an ambulance after being shot in San Francisco. The incident occurred during what police have described as an attempted robbery.

Zak Sos, a reporter for KTVU-TV, shared the footage on X, noting, “Here’s video of 49ers draft pick Ricky Pearsall heading to an ambulance after being shot near Union Square, according to police. Witness footage.”

The video has sparked significant reaction, with viewers expressing shock and disbelief at the scene depicted. Sos confirmed the authenticity of the footage, further adding to the intense public interest.

On September 1, the 49ers updated Pearsall’s condition, revealing that he had been released from the hospital. The team stated, “Ricky Pearsall was discharged this afternoon and is continuing to recover from a gunshot wound to his chest.” The statement also expressed gratitude to the San Francisco Police Department, emergency medical personnel, and hospital staff.

In a statement released on August 31, the team described Pearsall as being in serious but stable condition following the shooting. They requested privacy for Pearsall and his family during this time, extending their thoughts and prayers.

San Francisco Police Chief William Scott expressed his distress over the incident, stating, “I am deeply shocked and saddened by the shooting of 49ers player Ricky Pearsall in Union Square. This violence is unacceptable in our city. My thoughts are with Mr. Pearsall and his family, and I wish him a swift recovery.”

The San Francisco Police Department’s press release indicated that officers responded to a report of a shooting at Geary Street and Grant Avenue around 3:37 p.m. on August 31. They found two men with injuries and provided aid before transporting them to a local hospital.

The police reported that the shooting occurred during a robbery attempt, which led to a physical altercation between Pearsall and the suspect. The suspect, a 17-year-old from Tracy, California, is currently in custody, with charges expected to be filed in juvenile court. The police do not believe Pearsall was specifically targeted due to his status as a football player.

The investigation is ongoing, and authorities have urged anyone with information about the incident to contact the SFPD Tip line or text a tip to TIP411.
