The 2024 NFL season has officially kicked off, and on September 4, the Seattle Seahawks made several roster updates, including the addition of former Dallas Cowboys starter Quinton Bohanna.

Bohanna Joins the Seahawks
The Seahawks have signed Bohanna, along with defensive end Kenneth Odumegwu, to their practice squad. This move follows the release of defensive tackle Kyon Barrs and tackle Max Pircher from Seattle’s practice squad.

According to Sports Illustrated’s Corbin K. Smith, both Bohanna and Odumegwu tried out for Seattle on Tuesday during the team’s off day. Following the release of Pircher and Barrs, the team had an open spot to sign each player. Smith noted that since Odumegwu is an International Pathway Player, he takes Pircher’s place as the practice squad exemption for a 17th spot.

In a separate report, Kole Musgrove of USA Today’s Seahawks Wire highlighted that the Seahawks observed Bohanna closely during joint practices, demonstrating that the preseason serves as a crucial evaluation period not just for one’s own team but for others as well. Musgrove mentioned that Bohanna has accumulated 39 career tackles so far.

Bohanna also has a connection with the Seahawks’ current coaching staff: he played under Aden Durde, the former Cowboys defensive line coach now serving as Seattle’s defensive coordinator.

 Bohanna’s NFL Career
Selected by the Cowboys in the sixth round of the 2021 NFL Draft as the 192nd pick, Bohanna signed a four-year rookie deal with Dallas on May 13, 2021. In his rookie season, he started one game and played in 14. In his second season, he started nine games and appeared in 13, recording 20 tackles and two quarterback pressures.

The Cowboys waived Bohanna in August 2023. SportDFW.com’s Jason Schandl noted that Bohanna had become a fan favorite in Dallas, with many hoping he would make the 53-man roster for 2023 after a promising start to training camp. Despite his strong physical presence, Bohanna didn’t make the cut due to insufficient improvements in preseason games.

In 2023, Bohanna played for the Detroit Lions and Tennessee Titans, appearing in six games with three starts between the two teams. Ryan Heckman of Titan Sized mentioned in May that Bohanna was on the “roster bubble” due to the Titans drafting T’Vondre Sweat, which impacted Bohanna’s position on the depth chart.
