The Seattle Seahawks have added wide receiver Ty Scott to their roster ahead of their Week 2 game against the New England Patriots. To accommodate Scott, the team released linebacker Michael Barrett, who had joined Seattle just weeks earlier as part of a trade that sent veteran cornerback Michael Jackson to the Carolina Panthers on August 22, 2024. Barrett’s tenure in Seattle was brief.
Scott, who went undrafted in the 2023 NFL Draft, was initially signed by the Kansas City Chiefs but did not make their final roster. After a brief stint with the Chiefs, he was signed by Seattle in July but was waived on August 27. Now, Scott has another chance with the Seahawks.
Scott’s recent performance in the UFL with the DC Defenders, where he was their top receiver with 25 catches for 418 yards and 3 touchdowns, shows his potential, though he will face stiff competition in Seattle’s crowded receiver group.
In their Week 2 matchup, the Seahawks are favored by 3 points against the Patriots. The line has shifted slightly from an initial 3.5-point favor for Seattle as the Patriots, who are coming off an upset win over the Cincinnati Bengals, gain momentum. Jacoby Brissett is expected to start again for New England while rookie quarterback Drake Maye continues to develop. For Seattle to improve to 2-0, their offensive line will need to address its performance issues from the season opener.
