NASHVILLE – Following the Titans’ disappointing loss to the Bears on Sunday, quarterback Will Levis felt a profound sense of personal responsibility, believing he had let his team down and missed an opportunity to secure a season-opening victory. Despite his initial disappointment, Levis is now back on his feet, eager to embrace the challenges ahead.
With another game approaching this Sunday against the Jets, Levis is maintaining a positive outlook. Reflecting on the Bears game, he admitted that in the past, such a loss might have weighed heavily on him for days or even weeks. However, he managed to keep his spirits high and his confidence intact. “There were times when a game like that would have lingered with me,” Levis shared. “But I didn’t lose sleep Sunday night. I believe in my abilities as a quarterback, and while there’s always room for improvement, watching the game tape reinforced that it was just a fluke play.
Levis’ performance in the Week 1 game saw him complete 19 of 32 passes for 127 yards and one touchdown, though he also threw two interceptions and had a passer rating of 52.5. Additionally, he lost possession of the ball during a sack. The key moment he described as a “fluke play” was his fourth-quarter interception. In an attempt to throw the ball away and avoid a sack, Levis ended up giving the Bears an interception that was returned for a touchdown.
Despite the setbacks, Coach Brian Callahan has been impressed with Levis’ response to the situation. “I’d say Will has handled it very well,” Callahan remarked. “Even after the game, he was in a good place mentally. He understood his mistakes, recognized what he needed to improve, and was ready to move forward. “It’s tempting to dwell on a tough loss and let it affect your mindset,” Levis said. “But I’ve been really impressed with how the team has come together in the past couple of days. They’ve provided me with support and confidence, reinforcing that they still have my back. That kind of support is crucial, especially after a challenging game.”
