Former Cleveland Browns running back Jordan Wilkins has publicly criticized Deshaun Watson’s leadership skills, intensifying the debate surrounding the quarterback.
Watson, who is currently facing a new sexual assault allegation, was questioned about his leadership on September 11. He insisted that his teammates trust him, citing their daily interactions and support as evidence of his leadership.
However, Wilkins, who previously played with Watson, has shared a different perspective. He posted a video highlighting a fumble that occurred during a preseason game, implying that Watson was at fault for not executing a clean handoff. Wilkins also accused Watson of telling coaches that he didn’t know the play, contributing to his own fumbles and subsequent release before the season started.
Wilkins, now a free agent, expressed frustration with how Watson handled the situation, while Watson has firmly denied the new allegations, with his lawyer asserting that the quarterback will be vindicated in court. Despite these challenges, Watson is focusing on improving his performance on the field following a lackluster opener against the Dallas Cowboys.
The Browns are set to face the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday, and Watson is determined to concentrate on his game and lead his team to victory.
