Although the Buckeyes weren’t on the field this weekend, the Ohio State coaching staff was far from idle. Head coach Ryan Day and his team were actively engaged on the recruiting trail, extending offers to several top prospects for upcoming recruiting classes.
The action began on Wednesday when Ohio State offered a scholarship to 2026 four-star offensive lineman Breck Kolojay. Standing at 6-foot-5.5 and playing at IMG Academy in Florida, Kolojay is currently ranked as the No. 18 interior offensive lineman and No. 244 overall player nationally according to the 247Sports Composite.
Kolojay expressed his excitement on social media: “Blessed and humbled to have received an offer to play football at The Ohio State University‼️ #GoBuckeyes.” The Colorado native has over 30 offers to his name, including ones from top programs like Alabama, Georgia, and Michigan. Ohio State will need to bring him to campus for a visit to have a shot at securing his commitment, especially since his signing period is over a year away.
On the same day, Ohio State also extended an offer to another 2026 offensive lineman, J.B. Shabazz. The 6-foot-7, 295-pound Shabazz, who is ranked as the No. 31 offensive tackle and No. 21 player from North Carolina, joins the list of Buckeyes offers. Shabazz has at least a dozen offers, with Ohio State being one of his most significant, alongside Auburn and Kentucky. He becomes the 17th offensive lineman Ohio State has targeted for the 2026 class, as position coach Justin Frye works to address the gaps seen in the 2025 class.
Additionally, Ohio State reached out to 2027 offensive lineman Maxwell Hiller on Wednesday. Hiller, a standout sophomore from Coatesville, Pennsylvania, is ranked as the No. 3 offensive tackle and No. 20 overall player by 247Sports. The 6-foot-5, 295-pound prospect has already accumulated nearly ten offers, including ones from Penn State and Oklahoma.
On Thursday, Ohio State made an intriguing move by offering 2025 offensive lineman Damola Ajidahun. The four-star prospect, who is ranked as the No. 25 offensive tackle and No. 231 player nationally, committed to Georgia Tech just over a month ago. Ohio State is making a late push, hoping to get Ajidahun to visit Columbus before the early signing period. Discussions are underway to potentially schedule an official visit for the Iowa game on October 5.
In other recruiting news, Ohio State made the cut for 2026 four-star linebacker Anthony Davis, who is now considering a top 12 that includes Alabama, Clemson, and Michigan. Davis is currently ranked as the No. 17 linebacker and No. 239 overall player nationally.
Meanwhile, Ohio State’s NFL alumni, including Marvin Harrison Jr. and Jaxon Smith-Njigba, continued to shine this weekend, showcasing the program’s success in developing top talent and making a strong case for future recruits.
