The Seattle Seahawks have decided to part ways with safety Marquise Blair and defensive tackle Quinton Bohanna. These cuts were made to create roster space for the signing of speedy receiver Miles Boykin and running back Brittain Brown. The moves were finalized on September 18, 2024, just days ahead of the team’s Week 3 game against the Miami Dolphins on September 22.
Blair is a recognizable name for Seahawks fans, as he was selected in the second round of the 2019 NFL Draft with the 47th overall pick. He spent his first three seasons with Seattle but was released in 2022 before the start of the season. After signing with the Carolina Panthers, he played only three games before rejoining the Seahawks on a one-year deal in July.
Though Blair was initially released again as the team finalized their 53-man roster for Week 1, he was brought back to the practice squad shortly thereafter. Over his career with the Seahawks, he has appeared in 23 games.
As for Bohanna, the veteran defensive tackle joined the Seahawks’ practice squad on September 4. He previously played for the Detroit Lions but is best known for his time with the Dallas Cowboys, where he appeared in 27 games from 2021 to 2022, starting nine games during the 2022 season.
Looking ahead, the Seahawks are 4.5-point favorites against the Dolphins as they aim to achieve a perfect 3-0 record. With Tua Tagovailoa on Injured Reserve, the Dolphins are expected to start Skylar Thompson at quarterback. Meanwhile, questions remain about the status of Seattle running back Ken Walker, who has not practiced in the lead-up to the game, making it unlikely he will be available to play against Miami.
