Titans head coach Brian Callahan announced that the team intends to promote linebacker Luke Gifford to the active roster, as reported by Jim Wyatt. Gifford will fill the spot of cornerback Chidobe Awuzie, who is being placed on injured reserve.

Gifford, 29, went undrafted after playing at Nebraska and subsequently signed a three-year, $1.755 million deal with the Cowboys. He made the 53-man roster after preseason but was later placed on injured reserve in December due to a fractured arm. Although he was eligible for restricted free agency, the Cowboys chose not to extend a tender offer.

After joining the Titans on a two-year contract, Gifford primarily contributed on special teams and again found himself on injured reserve in 2023 due to a hamstring issue. During the 2023 season, he participated in 11 games for the Titans, starting once and recording six tackles in total.
