Breaking News: The Detroit booster rooster set to host the Miami Dolphins with a full 53-man roster.
Ahead of Sunday’s game at Gillette Stadium, the team announced the signing of defensive tackle Jaquelin Roy from the practice squad. Additionally, center Bryan Hudson and linebacker Ochaun Mathis have been elevated for the 1 p.m. ET kickoff.
Roy, 23, was drafted by the Minnesota Vikings in the fifth round of the 2023 NFL Draft (141st overall). The LSU product played in 12 games during his rookie season, including one start, and recorded eight tackles across 96 defensive snaps and 59 special teams snaps before being waived at the roster deadline. Standing at 6-foot-3 and weighing 305 pounds, he joined the Patriots’ practice squad in September after a workout.
Hudson, also 23, was added to New England’s practice squad at its inception in August after training camp with the Detroit Lions. The undrafted rookie from Louisville and Virginia Tech, standing 6-foot-5 and weighing 301 pounds, logged over 100 offensive snaps at center during the preseason. He played 60 games in college, making 41 starts across center, guard, and tackle.
Mathis, 25, entered the NFL with the Los Angeles Rams as a sixth-round pick (250th overall) in 2023. The 6-foot-5, 250-pound edge defender from TCU and Nebraska played in eight games during his rookie year, recording two tackles and one quarterback hit over 74 defensive snaps and 19 special teams snaps. After being waived prior to roster cuts, he joined the Patriots’ practice squad in August.
The Patriots also activated wide receiver Kendrick Bourne and safety Marte Mapu to the 53-man roster on Saturday. Both had spent September on the physically unable to perform list and injured reserve but returned as limited participants in practice.
Their activation comes after starting safety and defensive captain Jabrill Peppers was downgraded due to a shoulder injury.
Sunday’s AFC East matchup is set to begin at 1 p.m. ET.
