Akinmoladun’s journey continued as he was retained by St. Louis during the USFL-XFL merger process, which saw many players across both leagues moving between teams and leagues. By 2024, he earned a starting defensive role, appearing in nine of the ten games that season and once again finishing with 14 tackles. His steady presence in the defensive line helped anchor the Battlehawks’ front seven, playing a key part in the team’s defensive success that year.

With his significant experience and leadership on defense, it was no surprise when the Battlehawks decided to re-sign Akinmoladun for 2025. His familiarity with the team, coupled with his strong performances in both the USFL and XFL, has solidified him as one of the team’s most reliable players. Akinmoladun’s continued role in the St. Louis squad is a testament to his work ethic and his ability to adapt and perform at a high level in different leagues.

Before his time in the spring leagues, Akinmoladun also had a brief stint in the NFL, where he played for the New York Giants, Cincinnati Bengals, Tennessee Titans, and New York Jets. Over his NFL career, he recorded five tackles, gaining valuable experience at the highest level of football. His time in the NFL has no doubt helped him refine his skills and add another layer of expertise to his game.

As the Battlehawks prepare for the 2025 season, Akinmoladun’s return will provide them with a seasoned and versatile player who can make an impact in both run defense and pass rushing. With his leadership on and off the field, Akinmoladun’s re-signing is a strong indication that the Battlehawks are committed to continuing their success in the XFL.
