The Green Bay Packers improved to 9-3 after defeating the Miami Dolphins 30-17 on Thanksgiving. This victory marks their third consecutive win, all coming after their Bye Week, following a loss to the Detroit Lions at Lambeau Field.
Although it may seem disrespectful to call a win “fortunate” given the effort put in by the players, it was certainly crucial for the Packers. Earlier in the day, the Lions defeated the Chicago Bears, improving their record to 11-1. Meanwhile, former Packers running back Aaron Jones and the Minnesota Vikings also moved to 10-2.
Currently holding the fourth-best record in the NFC, the Packers sit in the second wild card spot (sixth seed). To improve their standing, they must win their remaining five games, with matchups against both the Lions and Vikings ahead.
As the Packers prepare for their Week 14 clash with the 11-1 Lions on the road, they face a tough challenge. Detroit won the first encounter 24-14 at Lambeau Field, and if Green Bay hopes to stay in the division race, Thursday’s game is a must-win.
In preparation for this matchup, the Lions have bolstered their defense by signing three-time Pro Bowl safety Jamal Adams to their practice squad, with plans to promote him to the active roster by Thursday’s game, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.
Adams, who had a brief stint with the Tennessee Titans earlier this season, played in three games before being placed on injured reserve and eventually released. He faced the Packers in Week 3, starting for the Titans in their 30-14 loss, but only played 17 snaps (27% of defensive plays). While on the field, Adams was targeted twice in the passing game, allowing a reception on both occasions.
