Luther Hackman, a former Major League Baseball player, pleaded guilty to charges of money laundering and conspiring to distribute cocaine. Hackman, 48, and Paul Seib, 46, who was convicted of attempting to distribute five kilograms of cocaine, are both facing prosecution. Hackman played five seasons in MLB, primarily with the St. Louis Cardinals and San Diego Padres.

The case is being prosecuted by U.S. Attorney Kevin Ritz for the Western District of Tennessee. According to Ritz, Homeland Security Investigations was alerted to the drug distribution operation in October 2021 when an individual known as “Pablo” sought large quantities of cocaine. Investigators later identified Seib as “Pablo” and linked both him and Hackman to a meeting where 10 kilograms of cocaine were being transferred.

In January 2022, Hackman allegedly provided funds for a shipment containing 20 pounds of methamphetamine and four kilograms of cocaine originating from California. Law enforcement intercepted the shipment and arrested Hackman at the pickup location. Hackman is scheduled for sentencing on June 7, while Seib’s sentencing will occur on July 12.
