The Kansas Jayhawks football program concluded a busy Sunday by securing its third transfer portal addition in just a few hours, landing Jahlil Hurley, a former Southeastern Conference cornerback.
Hurley, who is transferring from Alabama, becomes the latest player to commit to coach Lance Leipold’s team. He has three years of eligibility remaining.
Earlier on Sunday, Kansas also welcomed former South Alabama kicker Laith Marjan and former Ball State wide receiver Cameron Pickett.
In the 2023 season, Hurley primarily played on special teams for Alabama, appearing in nine games. He redshirted last year.
With his SEC experience, Hurley is expected to strengthen the Jayhawks’ cornerback depth, which lost key players Cobee Bryant and Mello Dotson due to graduation.
A four-star recruit coming out of high school, Hurley was ranked among the top 50 national prospects and chose Alabama over offers from Georgia, LSU, Penn State, Michigan, and other top programs.
247Sports National Recruit Analyst Cooper Petagna praised Hurley’s skills, highlighting his fluid movement, quick change of direction, and versatility in the secondary. He also noted Hurley’s strong ball awareness, tackling ability, and potential as both a cover defender and a playmaker in open space.
