Miami Secures Key Offensive Line Transfer from Former TCU Starter
Miami’s 2024 season ended on a disappointing note, but the Hurricanes received some positive news as they moved into 2025. Former TCU center James Brockermeyer committed to Miami on Friday, marking a significant addition to their offensive line, as reported by On3.
Standing 6-foot-3 and weighing 295 pounds, Brockermeyer started 12 games for TCU during the 2024 season before entering the transfer portal. Prior to his time with the Horned Frogs, he played at Alabama. Originally from Fort Worth, Texas, Brockermeyer returned home to play for TCU but is now set to embark on a new chapter with the Hurricanes. He will have one year of eligibility remaining, which he will spend in Miami’s lineup.
The decision to join the Hurricanes came after offers from other prominent programs, including Florida State and USC. Brockermeyer, the son of former NFL offensive lineman Blake Brockermeyer, is the first offensive lineman that Miami has secured from the transfer portal this offseason, providing an important boost to the team’s depth.
Brockermeyer’s journey to Miami marks the third stop in his collegiate career. After beginning at Alabama, where he was a highly-rated 4-star recruit according to 247Sports’ composite rankings, Brockermeyer spent three seasons with the Crimson Tide. However, his playing time at Alabama was limited, as he accumulated just 38 total snaps over the course of his tenure. Seeking more opportunities, he transferred to TCU before the 2024 season, where he played a more significant role as a starter.
Now, Brockermeyer will bring his experience and skills to Miami, looking to make an immediate impact on the Hurricanes’ offensive line for the upcoming season. His addition is expected to help strengthen the team’s offensive line depth and overall performance in 2025.
