KJ Adams is expected to be out for at least three to four games for the Kansas Jayhawks due to a shoulder injury he sustained in the previous week’s game against Iowa State. Head coach Bill Self confirmed the expected timeline for Adams’ recovery during his appearance on the “Hawk Talk” podcast, mentioning that while the injury is significant, Adams should return after missing a minimum of three or four games. Self also expressed optimism about Adams’ recovery, noting that doctors are pleased with his progress and that he is ahead of schedule. Despite this, the healing process must follow its natural course.
Adams, a key player for Kansas known for his strong defense and leadership, has been averaging 8.2 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 2.3 assists per game this season. His absence will be felt during this stretch of Big 12 play, and Kansas will need to lean on its depth, with freshman Flory Bidunga stepping into a starting role and players like Rylan Griffen and AJ Storr expected to take on bigger roles. Nevertheless, replacing Adams’ experience and presence will be a challenge until his return. Kansas is preparing for upcoming games, including a road match against TCU on Wednesday.
