After starting five games and appearing in eight total during the 2024 season, Jacoby Brissett, the former New England Patriots quarterback, is expected to find a new team in 2025. Bleacher Report’s Alex Kay suggests that Brissett will likely sign with the Tennessee Titans, where he would take on the role of mentor to a young quarterback the Titans could select with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. In 2024, Tennessee’s quarterback situation was far from ideal, as Will Levis didn’t develop as the team had hoped, leaving the Titans in need of a solution.

With a major quarterback upgrade likely on the horizon, the Titans are looking to improve their quarterback room through the draft. Brissett, who has played in 87 career games, has established himself as a reliable veteran and a perfect candidate to guide a rookie quarterback. This is a role Brissett is familiar with, as he has spent much of his career as a backup and mentor to younger quarterbacks. After being drafted by the Patriots in 2016 and spending one season in New England, Brissett returned in 2024 to help mentor rookie quarterback Drake Maye. That partnership turned out to be highly successful, with Maye earning a Pro Bowl selection in his first season.

Kay believes the Titans should adopt the same approach, noting that using a veteran quarterback like Brissett could be an ideal way to ease a rookie into the starting role. Drawing from the success that New England had with Brissett as a bridge quarterback, Kay suggests that Tennessee should replicate the Patriots’ tactic by pairing a high-potential rookie with a seasoned veteran. Brissett’s experience and leadership would provide the perfect environment for a young quarterback to grow and develop, helping them adjust to the pressures of the NFL while learning the ropes from a reliable veteran presence.

As the Titans look ahead to 2025, Brissett could provide exactly the mentorship they need to ensure their new quarterback is set up for success, much like he did for Maye in New England.
