When evaluating the Philadelphia Eagles’ success in 2025, it’s clear that much of it rests on one man’s shoulders: Howie Roseman.
While key players like Jalen Hurts and Saquon Barkley, as well as coaches like Nick Sirianni and Vic Fangio, certainly deserve recognition for their contributions to the Super Bowl victory, it’s Roseman who has constructed what is widely considered one of the NFL’s best rosters. His remarkable ability to manage the salary cap ensures the Eagles remain competitive for years to come.

While Roseman certainly deserves praise for his team-building strategy, ESPN’s NFL Draft expert Mel Kiper Jr. took it a step further. On his First Draft podcast with Field Yates, Kiper suggested that Roseman should already be enshrined in the Pro Football Hall of Fame, calling him the greatest team builder of all time.
“I think Jimmy Johnson said it best: You could’ve given MVP of that Super Bowl to Howie Roseman. I know Michael Strahan argued it should be a player, but those players wouldn’t have been there without Howie making moves, from free agency to trading up for Jalen Carter, Devonta Smith, and Cooper DeJean,” Kiper stated.
He added, “Howie Roseman is going down as one of the best GMs in NFL history, without question. He’s a Hall-of-Fame lock. He’s as good as any GM in NFL history right now.”
Roseman as the “GOAT” of NFL general managers? It’s a bold statement, but it’s hard to deny the consistency with which Roseman secures top talent, negotiates smart contracts, and stays ahead of the competition. His knack for building through the trenches, drafting Jalen Hurts while still having Carson Wentz, and making high-impact moves like acquiring Saquon Barkley for a record-breaking season all demonstrate his skill.
Roseman also made strategic picks, such as drafting multiple players from Georgia, fostering on-field chemistry thanks to their shared college experience. This trend even influenced other teams, like the Rams, to draft Florida State defenders.
Will Roseman eventually earn a bust in the Hall of Fame? Kiper is right in predicting so. And the good news is, Roseman still has plenty of room to grow, meaning the Eagles don’t need to worry about finding his successor anytime soon.
