Broncos Exploring $64 Million All-Pro Trade Option:
The Denver Broncos are actively exploring various strategies to enhance their roster around quarterback Bo Nix, with the potential trade for San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel still on the table.
Samuel, 29, has been given permission by the 49ers to seek a trade, and the Broncos are among the teams showing interest. However, they don’t seem to be the frontrunners at this point.
Broncos Exploring $64 Million All-Pro Trade Option:

According to Fox Sports’ Jordan Schultz, the Washington Commanders and Houston Texans have emerged as the most aggressive suitors for Samuel, with talks intensifying recently. The Broncos, along with the Pittsburgh Steelers, have also inquired about him, but other teams appear to be taking the lead.
In 2024, Samuel recorded 51 catches for 670 yards and 3 touchdowns. He also added 136 yards on 42 carries, although his usage in the running game has been a point of frustration for the 2021 All-Pro. Despite this, Samuel has accumulated 5,935 all-purpose yards since 2019, ranking 22nd among all skill players and 8th among wide receivers.
While the Broncos initially expressed interest in Samuel, reports suggest they are no longer pursuing a trade. The Denver Gazette’s Chris Tomasson mentioned that the team doesn’t seem interested in acquiring Samuel, who is in the final year of his three-year, $71.5 million contract.
Despite Samuel’s previous praise for Nix and the Broncos, the team is focusing on other needs this offseason. With $41.5 million in projected cap space, the Broncos are prioritizing positions like linebacker, running back, safety, and tight end. Head coach Sean Payton has highlighted the importance of adding a “joker” role player, such as a dynamic tight end or pass-catching running back, while also expressing confidence in the team’s current wide receiver group.
In addition to exploring trades, the Broncos have met with potential draft prospects at tight end, including Gunnar Helm and Terrance Ferguson, the latter of whom played with Nix at Oregon. The team has also shown interest in running backs Ashton Jeanty and Ollie Gordon II.
As the Broncos continue to build their roster, they are focused on addressing key positions to strengthen their team after ending a nine-year playoff drought in 2024.
Broncos Believed to Be Out on Deebo Samuel Trade
The Broncos’ interest in Deebo Samuel comes after reports suggesting they were initially uninterested in him when the 49ers allowed him to explore a trade. Samuel is set to enter the final year of his three-year, $71.5 million contract, with $64.5 million in total career earnings.
Chris Tomasson from the Denver Gazette reported on February 26 that there are indications the Broncos no longer have interest in Samuel.
Despite this, Samuel had previously spoken highly of Bo Nix and the Broncos.
