Breakings News: Packers Add $15.7 Million Weapon

The Green Bay Packers have made only two moves in the offseason so far, and general manager Brian Gutekunst has taken a more cautious approach than many expected. Rather than making big splashes, the Packers have addressed two key positions by signing former San Francisco 49ers offensive lineman Aaron Banks and former Las Vegas Raiders cornerback Nate Hobbs.

These moves help to improve the team in areas of immediate need, but there is still one position that many anticipated the Packers would target: wide receiver. With Jordan Love taking over as quarterback, the team could certainly use more weapons in the passing game. However, Green Bay has not yet made any significant moves to bolster their receiving corps, though a few intriguing options remain on the free-agent market. One such possibility is Stefon Diggs, who could prove to be a valuable addition to the Packers’ offense.

Diggs, who is coming off an ACL injury, has been one of the top wide receivers in the league for most of his career. In 2024, he played just seven games with the Houston Texans before suffering the injury, but during that short stretch, he managed to catch 47 passes for 496 yards and three touchdowns, showing that he was still performing at a high level. Before his injury, Diggs was on pace for another impressive season.

A potential acquisition of Diggs by Green Bay would likely depend on his contract demands. The Packers were reportedly interested in acquiring wide receiver Cooper Kupp, but he signed a three-year, $45 million deal with the Seattle Seahawks, averaging $15 million per year. Diggs’ projected market value, according to Spotrac, is around $13.7 million per season. If he is willing to take a slight pay cut in exchange for a prominent role on a contending team, Green Bay could become a viable option for him. Adding Diggs would give Love a seasoned, playmaking wide receiver who could contribute significantly in Matt LaFleur’s offense. While there have been no reports connecting the Packers and Diggs directly, the fit between the two sides seems logical. It remains to be seen if Green Bay will pursue him.
