Jaguars wide receiver signs one-year deal with Jets
Wide receiver Josh Reynolds has signed a one-year contract worth up to $5 million with the New York Jets, as reported by Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network. Reynolds, 30, joins the Jets after spending the 2023 season with both the Denver Broncos and Jacksonville Jaguars. In his limited action across nine games, he caught 13 passes for 194 yards and one touchdown.
Before his time with the Broncos and Jaguars, Reynolds was a prominent figure in the Detroit Lions’ offense for three seasons. During his time in Detroit, he became one of quarterback Jared Goff’s most reliable targets, with whom he had previously played on the Los Angeles Rams. Reynolds also earned the affection of Lions head coach Dan Campbell, who gave him the unique nicknames “Serpent of Death” and “Praying Mantis” for his playing style.

In his 38 games (29 starts) with the Lions, Reynolds racked up 97 receptions for 1,393 yards and 10 touchdowns. His final season with Detroit in 2023 was among his best, as he recorded 40 receptions for 608 yards and five touchdowns. However, despite his solid performance as the team’s WR3, his last memory in Detroit was marked by a series of dropped passes during the 2023 NFC Championship Game, which contributed to the Lions’ loss to the San Francisco 49ers.
Following contract negotiations that didn’t pan out with Detroit, Reynolds signed a two-year, $9 million contract with the Denver Broncos. However, his 2023 season was marked by personal challenges, as he was shot near a nightclub in Denver in October. Despite this, Reynolds managed to return to the field later in the season with the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Reynolds, originally drafted by the Rams in the fourth round of the 2017 NFL Draft from Texas A&M, has played for several teams in his career, including the Rams, Lions, Broncos, Jaguars, and Tennessee Titans. Now, with the Jets, Reynolds hopes to make an impact and contribute to their receiving corps in 2024.
