Just two days after securing a pledge from four-star tight end Matt Ludwig, Oregon has added another weapon to its 2026 recruiting class — this time in three-star tight end Mason Bonner.

BREAKING: Class of 2026 TE Mason Bonner has committed to Oregon, he tells @on3recruits.
The 6-foot-6, 215-pound prospect from Denver, Colorado, chose the Ducks over other finalists including Minnesota, Texas Tech, and Miami.
“Blessed & grateful for all the opportunities given to me, I’m home!” Bonner said via Hayes Fawcett on X.

Bonner has been on Oregon’s radar since December, when newly-promoted tight ends coach Drew Mehringer extended an offer. Since then, Mehringer made several trips to Colorado to recruit Bonner, including a recent visit just last week. Bonner also made a spring visit to Eugene.

“Mason’s film speaks volumes,” his father, Sherdrick Bonner, told On3’s EJ Holland. “Terrance Ferguson is like a receiver in a tight end’s body — making catches in tight spaces and creating mismatches. Watching Oregon’s system really left an impression. The uniforms, the brand, it all means something. And the way Coach Lanning and Coach Mehringer have handled the process has been outstanding.”

Earlier this spring, Bonner narrowed his choices down to Oregon and Minnesota. Although he had official visits planned, he chose to end his recruitment early and commit to the Ducks.

Scouting reports describe Bonner as a long, athletic hybrid who currently plays receiver but projects as a tight end. According to 247Sports’ Greg Biggins, Bonner is a natural pass catcher with a basketball background that shows in his body control and ability to win contested catches. While still lean, how he fills out physically will determine his long-term fit — either as a flex receiver or a full-time tight end.

He’s been compared to current Duck Kenyon Sadiq — a developmental player with a high floor who could be a valuable piece down the road. That skillset contrasts nicely with Ludwig, who is expected to contribute early as a more polished, all-around tight end.

In addition to Oregon and Minnesota, Bonner held offers from Penn State, Tennessee, Florida, UCLA, Nebraska, Washington, Colorado, and others.

His commitment gives Oregon seven pledges in the 2026 class, joining Ludwig, QB Brady Smigiel, OL Bear McWhorter, CB Brody Jennings, WR Jaylen Pile, and EDGE Tariq Boney.
