The program, introduced Monday by Broncos CEO Damani Leech, will allow select individuals to hold a symbolic ownership stake in the franchise. While not granting full equity rights, this initiative recognizes contributions to the team and community by extending a seat at the table for strategic planning, advisory input, and cultural representation.

Former All-Pro linebacker Wesley Woodyard is among the first honored participants. Woodyard, who played for the Broncos from 2008 to 2013, was a defensive leader and respected locker room presence during his tenure. Off the field, he has continued to make an impact through his 16Ways Foundation, which supports youth development across underserved communities.

“Wesley represents everything we want this program to stand for,” said Leech. “He gave his all on the field, and he’s still giving back. We want to honor that forever.”

Joining Woodyard is Dr. Nita Mosby Tyler, a renowned Denver-based community advocate and founder of The Equity Project, a consultancy focused on inclusivity and social justice. Dr. Tyler has been instrumental in launching citywide educational and equity initiatives, and she will now bring her voice to a new platform.

“To be included in the Broncos’ ownership vision is both an honor and a responsibility,” Dr. Tyler said. “It’s a powerful message that football isn’t just about Sunday. It’s about every day—what we do in our communities.”

The program is set to evolve, with the team planning to name additional recipients annually. The move has already drawn praise from players, alumni, and local leaders, who see it as a unique blend of honoring the past, investing in the present, and inspiring the future.

With the Broncos leading the way, this could mark a new era of inclusion and accountability in professional sports ownership.
