The Florida State Seminoles are continuing their impressive summer recruiting surge.
With 22 verbal commitments, the Seminoles currently boast the No. 15 recruiting class for 2026, and momentum continues to build. Just days after landing five-star cornerback Chauncey Kennon, one of head coach Mike Norvell’s top targets, FSU got more positive news over the weekend.
Three-star linebacker Karon Maycock has officially ended his recruitment, according to Zach Blostein of 247Sports. The 6’1″, 200-pound standout from Miami Central had been committed to FSU since February. After taking official visits to Florida, Alabama, Miami, and Syracuse, Maycock concluded his tour with a late June visit to Tallahassee — and that sealed it.
“I’m not taking any more visits; I’m locked in, fully locked in,” Maycock told 247Sports.
Linebacker recruiting has been a recent concern for FSU, prompting a coaching shakeup last offseason. Under new linebackers coach and special teams coordinator John Papuchis, Maycock now joins fellow three-star Noah LaVallee in the #Tribe26 class.
While Maycock’s ranking may not immediately jump off the page, his production tells another story. He posted 62 tackles, 17 tackles for loss, and three sacks in just eight games as a junior, along with two forced fumbles and three pass breakups, per MaxPreps. He’s seen as a high-upside prospect with the tools to thrive at the next level.
He currently ranks as the No. 32 linebacker nationally and No. 65 player in Florida for the 2026 cycle.
