Irish Stay Hot: Notre Dame Lands 2026 DB Nick Reddish Amid Recruiting Surge

Marcus Freeman and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish continue their recruiting momentum with the commitment of promising 2026 defensive back Nick Reddish.
Reddish, a standout from Charlotte, North Carolina, announced his pledge to Notre Dame on Friday, per On3’s Hayes Fawcett. He chose the Irish over Indiana, Wisconsin, and Virginia Tech.
“Blessed beyond measures 🙏🏾, Go Irish!” Reddish told Fawcett.
A three-star prospect with an 88 rating from 247Sports, Reddish is ranked the 27th-best player in North Carolina and the No. 62 safety in the 2026 class.
Scouting director Andrew Ivins offered high praise for Reddish’s instincts and upside:
“Instinctive split safety that has showcased the ability to generate takeaways. Assembled a breakout sophomore campaign before missing most of his junior year with a lower-body injury. Quick to trigger and get to the football, whether in zone coverage or run support. On the smaller side, but packs a punch and will explode through contact,” Ivins said.
“Fluid enough to hang with most slot assignments and will fight for positioning. Lack of speed data yields an incomplete evaluation, but he moves fast in pads. Must regain confidence, but he has a chance to be a multi-year contributor at the Power Four level with his football IQ. Should also add plenty of value on special teams.”
What’s Next for Notre Dame After Adding Reddish?
The Fighting Irish are building an impressive 2026 class, and the addition of Reddish only strengthens their defensive pipeline. While fans won’t see him in action until two seasons from now, his potential has the staff excited for his arrival.
As for the present, Marcus Freeman and the Irish are focused on a pivotal 2025 season. After an electric 2024 campaign where they went 14-2 and reached the national championship game—falling to the Ohio State Buckeyes—expectations are sky-high in South Bend.
Reddish’s commitment is yet another sign that top talent is buying into Freeman’s vision for the program.
