In a move that has electrified Razorback Nation and sent shockwaves through the SEC, Keelon Russell, the highly touted 4-star quarterback from Duncanville, Texas, has officially flipped his commitment from Alabama to Arkansas. The announcement came via a live stream on Russell’s social media, where he proudly donned a Razorbacks cap and declared, “I’m ready to call the Hogs!”

Ranked as one of the top dual-threat quarterbacks in the 2025 class, Russell had been firmly committed to Alabama since early spring. But after a strong late push from Arkansas offensive coordinator Bobby Petrino and head coach Sam Pittman, the 6’3″, 185-pound standout reconsidered his path. What followed was a whirlwind of campus visits, in-depth conversations, and, according to Russell, a “gut feeling that Fayetteville is where I belong.”

“This just feels like home,” Russell said in an exclusive interview following his announcement. “The coaching staff, the fan base, the energy — it’s all real. I want to be part of something special, and I believe Arkansas is building a team that can not only compete but dominate in the SEC.”

Russell brings a dynamic blend of speed, arm talent, and high-level decision-making that has already drawn comparisons to past Razorback legends. In his junior year, he threw for over 3,200 yards and 35 touchdowns while rushing for another 700 yards, showcasing the dual-threat versatility Arkansas has sorely missed in recent years.

Head coach Sam Pittman couldn’t hide his excitement during a post-announcement press conference.

“Keelon is the real deal. He’s the kind of player who can change the direction of a program. He believes in what we’re doing here, and that speaks volumes about where we’re headed.”

Russell confirmed he will enroll early, aiming to participate in spring practice and compete immediately for the starting job.

“I’m not coming in to sit,” Russell added confidently. “I’m coming in to lead. I’m committed to winning, committed to Arkansas, and ready to bring an SEC title to Fayetteville.”
