The Tennessee Titans’ offense has struggled this season, averaging only 17.5 points per game, ranking 29th in the NFL. The main issue has been inconsistent quarterback play, as the Titans have used multiple starters throughout the year. With the team currently holding a top pick, according to Tankathon, they are expected to target a quarterback, with Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders often linked to that spot.
However, the Titans’ wide receiver group has also underperformed this year. Tyler Brooke of The 33rd Team suggested that if Tennessee drafts Sanders, they should consider trading a third- and a fifth-round pick to the Miami Dolphins for star wide receiver Tyreek Hill.
“Sanders has excelled at the college level with deep throws,” Brooke wrote in a Dec. 18 column. “According to Pro Football Focus, he has thrown 13 touchdowns with zero interceptions and posted a 133.0 passer rating on throws over 20 yards this season. Hill hasn’t had the chance to showcase his deep-ball ability as much this year, with the Dolphins’ offense focusing on quick throws.”
Brooke continued, “That Sanders-Hill connection could inject much-needed life into the Titans’ offense. Tennessee has an extra third-round pick from a previous trade, so they could afford to give up one of their third-round picks along with another Day 3 pick to acquire a star receiver for their likely first-round quarterback.”
Is Tyreek Hill Looking to Be Traded?
Hill is one of the NFL’s most explosive players. He is the only player in history to have scored touchdowns via receiving, rushing, kickoff return, punt return, and fumble recovery. He also led the NFL with 1,799 receiving yards. While he’s been a key asset for the Dolphins, things may be starting to sour in Miami. Hill recently posted “It’s time for me to go coach” on X, which many interpreted as a hint he wants to leave the Dolphins.
With Miami struggling this year and Hill recently turning 30, he might consider a move to a team with better Super Bowl potential.
Would Hill Want to Go to the Titans?
The idea of the Titans trading for Hill raises some questions. After recently trading away veteran receiver DeAndre Hopkins, it seems unlikely they would want to add another high-priced, aging wide receiver. However, if Sanders becomes their quarterback, he will need a reliable receiver. Adding Hill would provide Sanders with a deep-threat weapon, leading to potential big plays.
Still, it’s hard to imagine Hill being eager to join the Titans. The team has not won a playoff game since 2020 and is currently one of the bottom teams in the NFL. While adding players like Sanders and Hill could spark a turnaround, there’s no guarantee.
Considering Hill’s age and career ambitions, he might prefer to play for a contender like the Los Angeles Chargers or return to the Kansas City Chiefs. If winning isn’t his top priority, Hill may choose to stay with the Dolphins, where he’s already established himself as a top player.
