On Sunday morning, Lance Leipold and the Kansas Jayhawks football program received a major boost for the Class of 2026 with the commitment of three-star offensive lineman Malachi Mills. The 6-foot-6, 300-pound tackle from Westfield, Indiana, announced his decision to join the Jayhawks over a list of offers from schools such as Miami Ohio, Colorado State, Toledo, Florida Atlantic, and several others.
Mills took to social media to express his excitement, posting a tweet that read, “Home!! 🔵🔴 #rockchalkjayhawk #mob,” signaling his official commitment to Kansas. His decision is a big win for the Jayhawks as they continue to build a strong foundation under Leipold’s leadership.

What stood out most to Mills during his recruitment process was the strong relationship he developed with the Kansas coaching staff. In an interview with 247Sports’ Michael Swain, Mills explained, “What really stood out to me during the visit was the genuine care and love from the coaching staff.
They went out of their way to make both me and my dad feel welcomed and at home. I was also impressed by the strong moral values the staff embodies. Overall, I loved everything about the visit, the people, the atmosphere, and the sense of community. I’m so excited to call this place home.”
Coming from Westfield High School, Mills ranks as the 60th-best offensive tackle in the country for the Class of 2026, according to the 247Sports rankings. He also ranks as the 13th-best player in the state of Indiana. Mills’ size and athleticism make him a highly coveted prospect, and his commitment further solidifies the growing strength of Kansas’ recruiting class.
With Mills’ addition, Kansas now has seven commitments in the Class of 2026, joining other top recruits like Hunter Higgins, JJ Dunnigan, Josh Galbreath, Nate Sims, Lennie Brown, and Jaylen Mason. The Jayhawks’ 2026 class is currently ranked 17th in the nation and stands as the top-ranked recruiting class in the Big 12 Conference.
This commitment not only strengthens the Kansas offensive line but also adds to the program’s momentum as Leipold continues to build a competitive team capable of competing in the Big 12 and beyond. The addition of Mills is a testament to the program’s growth and its ability to attract top-tier talent.
