TCU’s push for a defensive line overhaul is clear as the Horned Frogs continue to focus on strengthening their trenches for the future. The latest addition to their 2026 recruiting class is three-star EDGE rusher Amontre Harris, who committed to TCU on Tuesday morning. The 6-foot-4, 220-pound defensive standout hails from Humble, Texas, where he plays for Summer Creek High School. His commitment marks a key step in TCU’s defensive rebuilding process and solidifies their efforts to add depth and talent to their pass-rushing unit.

Harris had an outstanding junior season in 2024, recording 52 tackles, 10 sacks, 18 tackles for loss, and four fumble recoveries. His ability to disrupt plays in the backfield and contribute to his team’s defense has earned him recognition and multiple scholarship offers, including from SMU and Houston. Additionally, Harris was part of Summer Creek’s impressive 2023 squad, which went 14-2 and finished as the Texas 6A D-II state runner-up.

With Harris joining the fold, TCU now has a strong defensive line class forming for 2026, which includes three other defensive linemen: Jesse Ford, Duncan McGhee, and Maddox Flynt, as well as another EDGE rusher, Carter Buck. This solidifies TCU’s commitment to rebuilding its defensive front, with a clear focus on adding pass rushers and playmakers who can impact the game from multiple angles.

The addition of Harris is a significant one for TCU, which now ranks No. 28 nationally in the 2026 recruiting cycle. The Horned Frogs’ defensive line class is shaping up to be one of the program’s most promising, as they continue to build a foundation for future success in the Big 12 and beyond. With Harris’ versatility and motor, combined with the other defensive line commits, TCU is positioning itself for a strong defensive future.

As for Harris himself, his excitement about the opportunity at TCU was clear in his social media posts following his commitment. He expressed his eagerness to get to work with the coaching staff, including defensive coordinator AAFrogDC and head coach Sonny Dykes. Harris’s commitment also adds to the momentum TCU is building in its 2026 class, which is shaping up to be one of the most talented recruiting cycles for the program in recent years.

For TCU fans, the future looks bright as the team continues to focus on bolstering its defensive line, and the addition of Amontre Harris is just the latest sign that the Horned Frogs are building something special for the seasons ahead.
