Auburn has secured a commitment from Kentrell White, a 6-foot-4, 210-pound tight end from Midtown High in Atlanta, Georgia.

White announced his decision to join head coach Hugh Freeze and the Tigers on Friday, choosing Auburn over Virginia Tech, which he recently visited officially.

“It’s Auburn because if I want to go big, I need to play at a big school where I can make big plays,” White told Auburn Undercover.

A 3-star prospect in the 247Sports Composite rankings, White is rated as the No. 65 tight end in the 2025 class and the No. 134 overall recruit in Georgia. Nationally, he ranks No. 1,243 overall. As a junior, White primarily lined up at wide receiver and defensive back, but Auburn plans to utilize him as a hybrid tight end in Freeze’s offensive system.

White also brings athletic versatility, contributing as a return specialist and excelling on the track, where he’s a two-time regional qualifier in both the 100m and 200m events.

His commitment comes at a crucial time for Auburn. Earlier this week, Freeze acknowledged concerns about the Tigers’ 2025 class, which had just six public pledges and was ranked last in the SEC. White’s addition pushes Auburn to No. 84 nationally and marks the program’s third commitment since June 24, offering hope that Freeze and his staff can build momentum and close the recruiting gap. Despite the slow start, Freeze has delivered back-to-back top-10 classes, suggesting the finish could still be strong.
