Ohio State Buckeyes Eye Crucial Commitment from WR Jerquaden Guilford
The Ohio State Buckeyes have hit a few bumps on the recruiting trail lately, but they’re looking to regain momentum with the potential commitment of wide receiver Jerquaden Guilford.
Guilford was originally expected to announce his decision late last month, with Ohio State viewed as the favorite. However, a late push from Ole Miss caused the three-star prospect to postpone his announcement. He’s now set to reveal his decision this Friday, according to Steve Wiltfong of On3.
The Fort Wayne, Indiana native is choosing between Ohio State, Ole Miss, Michigan, Indiana, and Tennessee — with the Buckeyes facing not only SEC competition but also pressure from key Big Ten rivals.
Ranked as the No. 68 wide receiver in the nation and the No. 2 player in Indiana, Guilford would add another strong piece to Ohio State’s already impressive 2026 receiver class, which includes four current commits, headlined by five-star standout Chris Henry Jr.
The Buckeyes continue to reinforce their reputation as a wide receiver factory. This past April, Emeka Egbuka became the latest first-round pick at the position, selected by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Current stars Jeremiah Smith and Carnell Tate are widely considered the top wideout duo entering the 2025 season.
While Ohio State’s wide receiver room remains loaded, the team has struggled to land key defensive line recruits this cycle — a concern that looms larger as the offseason progresses. Still, securing Guilford would be a big win and help keep momentum alive on the offensive side.
