The Green Bay Packers quarterback has positioned himself to compete for a starting job in the NFL in 2026. Originally selected in the third round of the 2022 draft by the Tennessee Titans, his first two professional seasons were underwhelming. Across 11 appearances with Tennessee, he completed 53% of his passes for 350 yards, throwing no touchdowns and three interceptions, resulting in a 49.4 passer rating.

After training camp in 2024, Green Bay decided that Sean Clifford and Michael Pratt were not suitable backup options behind Jordan Love, prompting the team to send a seventh-round pick to Tennessee in exchange for Willis — a decision that quickly proved worthwhile.

Soon after arriving in Green Bay, he was thrust into the starting role when Love suffered a sprained MCL in Week 1 of the 2024 season. He guided the Packers to back-to-back wins during that stretch and continued to impress in limited action.

Over two seasons in Green Bay (11 games), he completed 78.7% of his passes for 972 yards with six touchdowns, no interceptions, and an outstanding 134.6 passer rating.

As he approaches free agency, NFL.com ranks him not only as the top quarterback available, but the No. 1 overall free agent. Analysts cite his elite rushing ability and significant development as a passer under head coach Matt LaFleur. Despite a relatively small sample size, his upside at the game’s most important position elevates him above the rest of the market.

For any team pursuing him, the key will be implementing an offensive system that maximizes his mobility and playmaking skills — similar to the approach that unlocked his success in Green Bay. Several quarterback-needy teams could show interest, provided they are willing to give him a legitimate chance to start.
