University of Hawai’i Women’s Volleyball Coach Robyn Ah Mow has announced the signing of five players for the upcoming 2024 Fall season: Adrianna Arquette (Kailua, O’ahu), Victoria Leyva (El Paso, Texas), Malinah Purcell-Telefoni (Kapolei, O’ahu), Miliana Sylvester (Honolulu, O’ahu), and Madeline Way (Santa Clarita, Calif.). This marks Ah Mow’s largest incoming freshman class, including three local talents.
“We are thrilled to welcome this talented group of young women to our Rainbow Wahine ‘ohana,” said Ah Mow. “Each of these student-athletes embodies the values we cherish in our program, university, and state. They bring determination, athleticism, and a strong work ethic that will elevate our team the moment they step onto campus in Manoa.”
Leyva, a versatile 5-8 libero from El Paso, Texas, also excels as an outside hitter and brings leadership and a keen game sense, boasting impressive stats from her high school career at Pebble Hills High School.
Way, a dynamic 6-1 middle blocker from Santa Clarita, Calif., is known for her speed, explosiveness, and competitive spirit, having contributed significantly to her high school and club teams.
Arquette, hailing from Kamehameha Schools—Kapālama, demonstrated versatility and leadership as a setter, earning numerous accolades including Gatorade Player of the Year for Hawaii.
Purcell-Telefoni, a powerful 6-1 opposite hitter from Kapolei High School, brings physicality and championship experience from her time in American Samoa.
Sylvester, a standout athlete from University Laboratory School in Honolulu, impressed with her athleticism, skill, and leadership on the court, earning recognition as DII Player of the Year in Hawaii.
All three local recruits were honored in the Honolulu Star-Advertiser’s Fab 15, underscoring their impact and potential as they join the Rainbow Wahine volleyball program.
