One of the most highly-regarded prospects in the Class of 2025, Joson Sanon, is deliberating over Kansas basketball as a potential destination. The 5-star recruit has included the Jayhawks among his top six choices, alongside Kentucky, UConn, Arizona, Overtime Elite, and Boston College.

Currently ranked No. 11 in the 247 Sports Composite rankings, Sanon stands at 6-foot-5 and attends Vermont Academy. While he’s listed as a 2025 graduate, there’s speculation among recruiting analysts that he might reclassify up a year if the right opportunity arises.

Renowned for his dynamic playing style that includes floor spacing and strong three-point shooting, Sanon represents an exciting prospect for KU. Here’s how Jamie Shaw of On3.com assessed his skills:

“Joson Sanon possesses the ideal frame for basketball, with long arms and broad shoulders. His tempo on the court is exceptional, demonstrating composure in his play. Standing at 6-5, he boasts a pure shooting stroke with deep range beyond the arc. Whether shooting off the dribble or catching the ball, his shooting mechanics remain consistent. Sanon exhibits athleticism with explosive bursts, indicating potential as a solid defender both on and off the ball. He handles the ball well, comfortably maneuvering into midrange positions with one or two dribbles. Sanon is consistently ranked among the top prospects in his class.”

Sanon had the opportunity to visit Allen Fieldhouse on February 3, witnessing Kansas’s thrilling victory over Houston in a charged atmosphere. He also attended a game at Assembly Hall in Bloomington, although he has since eliminated Indiana from his recruitment process. Kentucky remains a strong contender in pursuing Sanon, potentially positioning themselves as the frontrunners over Kansas.

If Sanon decides not to reclassify, the native of Massachusetts plans to take his time in making a college decision. Should he choose Kansas, he would join McDonald’s All-Americans Flory Bidunga, Labaron Philon, and Rakease Passmore in what promises to be an exceptional 2024 recruiting class for the Jayhawks.
