Collingwood’s premiership captain continues to face scrutiny for his inconsistent performances in 2024, following another disappointing outing in the Magpies’ recent loss. The defending premiers were defeated by Gold Coast by 11 points on Saturday, with the Suns maintaining an unbeaten home record in the AFL for the year.

Criticism has mounted against Moore and Collingwood, with former Port Adelaide star Kane Cornes joining others in questioning the skipper’s contributions. Moore has struggled to assert himself in contests this season, often trailing in contests or being overpowered by opponents.

Earlier in the season, Kangaroos legend David King highlighted Moore’s positional errors and decision-making at the back for Collingwood. With the Magpies now sixth on the ladder and facing challenging matches against top-eight teams like Essendon, Geelong, Carlton, Sydney, and Brisbane in the run-up to the finals, their postseason aspirations appear uncertain.

While Moore played a pivotal defensive role in Collingwood’s 2023 premiership campaign, his impact this season has been less pronounced. In the clash against Gold Coast, he managed just 11 disposals and one intercept mark, prompting Cornes to echo King’s concerns about his timing and positioning on the field.
