DD: Unless something unexpected happens, C.J. Stroud will start at quarterback on Saturday for the Texans. He played two series in last Friday’s win against the Steelers and connected with Tank Dell for a 34-yard touchdown on the third play of his second possession. We’ll see how much time he gets on Saturday, but he’s likely to start against New York.
Rick Marsh: Dear Drew, who will be the starting left guard?
DD: Kenyon Green has been the starter throughout camp and the first two preseason games. After missing the entire 2023 season due to injury, Green has shown significant improvement over the past few months. Center Juice Scruggs is excited for Green, noting his perseverance through adversity. Green started 14 games his rookie year before being sidelined for the 2023 season.
Jane Vidales: Dear Drew, what color jersey will the team wear on Saturday?
DD: The Texans will be wearing their new Deep Steel Blue jerseys. They’ll definitely look sharp on the field.
Nataly Lazo: Dear Drew, if you could bring any retired player back to play for the Texans, who would it be and why?
DD: I’d choose Arian Foster in his prime. While J.J. Watt and Andre Johnson are also great choices—both are Hall of Famers or future Hall of Famers—Foster would be a tremendous addition to the current offense. His impressive stats from 2010-2012 and 2014, including 1,378 rushing yards, 441 receiving yards, and 15 touchdowns per season, make him a standout choice. He would complement the current talent and enhance the offense.
Ariel Alameda: Dear Drew, how can we get more fans in their seats before kickoff this season?
DD: I believe fans will arrive earlier this season. Given the excitement from 2023 and the anticipated success, I expect to see more people in their seats before kickoff. Head Coach DeMeco Ryans has mentioned how energized the team feels when the crowd is loud and present early.
Rhoda Clark: Dear Drew, I’m predicting 15 wins in the regular season and envisioning a Super Bowl appearance. What do you think?
DD: That would be fantastic! If the Texans achieved 15-2, they’d join an elite group of teams that have reached that mark. Historically, only two teams— the 1984 49ers and 1985 Bears—won the Super Bowl with 15 wins. While 15 wins is a significant achievement, let’s aim for the Super Bowl victory as well.
