With the 2024 college football season fast approaching, media coverage is increasingly shedding light on various programs and potential breakout stars. On3 has unveiled its preseason Freshman All-American team, and two Notre Dame players have made the cut: offensive tackle Anthonie Knapp and linebacker Kyngstonn Viliamu-Asa.

Knapp’s inclusion was somewhat anticipated, though Viliamu-Asa’s selection was expected. Knapp has been making headlines recently for earning first-team reps at left tackle, especially following the season-ending injury to Charles Jagusah. The true freshman is now competing with graduate student Tosh Baker for the starting position.

On3 Director of Scouting and Rankings Charles Power provided insight into Knapp’s selection:

“Anthonie Knapp is already running with the first team at left tackle for Notre Dame after Charles Jagusah’s injury. This prospect was highly rated by On3, finishing as a top-100 recruit. We were impressed by his senior film and technical proficiency. Knapp’s versatility allows him to play multiple positions on the offensive line.”

Knapp’s inclusion on the Freshman All-American team reflects his strong potential and advanced skill set, despite his relatively modest size. His athleticism and strength are key assets.

In contrast, Viliamu-Asa’s selection was not surprising. The former St. John Bosco standout was highly regarded as one of the top linebackers in the 2024 class. His inclusion underscores his anticipated impact on the field.
