Daboll remarked that Banks is “still young, still improving” and emphasized his dedication to developing under the guidance of Defensive Passing Game Coordinator and Defensive Backs Coach Jerome Henderson. Daboll noted, “He works hard with Jerome every day. Obviously, as he’s played in this new system, he gets more comfortable. But all our young guys, whether it’s first year, second year, third year, continue to grow.”
Although Banks is only in his second year, he has already accumulated significant experience compared to his peers in the Giants’ secondary. The team is relying on rookies like Andru Phillips at slot cornerback and Tyler Nubin at free safety, which means Banks is stepping into a leadership role with the most career starts among the Giants’ defensive backs—15 in total.
Banks’ performance in his rookie season was promising, despite some imperfections. He made 15 starts and played 844 defensive snaps, recording 64 combined tackles, two tackles for loss, 11 pass defenses, and two interceptions. In terms of coverage, Banks allowed 53 completions on 96 targets (55.2%) for 606 yards and four touchdowns. These statistics underscore his potential, even though he was not without his struggles.
Looking ahead to the 2024-25 season, Banks is expected to be a central figure in the Giants’ secondary. His role as the primary cornerback will be critical given the overall inexperience of the defensive backfield.
