Numerous rumors have connected the Dallas Cowboys to Tennessee Titans star Derrick Henry, but it seems the team is not interested in acquiring him.

According to Sports Illustrated’s Mike Fisher, the Cowboys are “not pursuing” Henry at this time, despite the persistent trade speculation. Fisher cited a source saying that the interest in Henry appears more driven by media speculation than by any actual intention from Dallas.

“Currently, the Dallas Cowboys are ‘not pursuing’ Titans running back Derrick Henry,” Fisher reported on October 28, 2023. “One NFL source mentioned, ‘That seems more of a media idea than it is a Dallas idea.’”

Fisher added that while Cowboys fans hope the team has thoroughly evaluated Henry and the Titans’ willingness to move him, as well as potential salary considerations, Henry is not a major target for Dallas at the moment.

Cowboys and Derrick Henry Trade Rumors

Despite the speculation, recent reports suggest that Dallas may not be actively pursuing a trade for Henry, despite being frequently mentioned as a possible landing spot. Henry’s powerful running style was seen as a potential complement to Tony Pollard, especially given Dallas’ inconsistent rushing game.

Sportskeeda’s Tony Pauline had previously identified the Cowboys as a “sleeper team” in the Henry trade discussions, especially if Tennessee was willing to cover part of Henry’s contract, which is around $9 million. However, Fisher’s latest update indicates that the Cowboys’ interest might be overstated.

No Calls to Titans About Henry

Additionally, The Athletic’s Dianna Russini reported that the Cowboys have not contacted the Titans about Henry. She noted that Tennessee is also not inclined to trade Henry unless they receive an exceptional offer. As of October 28, Russini mentioned, “DeAndre Hopkins and Derrick Henry look to be staying in Tennessee,” with the Titans’ GM indicating no interest in moving Henry before the October 31 trade deadline.
