Khari Blasingame. In a recent update from Scott Bair, the Chicago Bears have made significant roster moves by placing long snapper Patrick Scales on injured reserve and re-signing fullback Khari Blasingame.

Patrick Scales, now 36 years old, began his professional career with the Baltimore Ravens. After going undrafted out of Utah State in 2011, Scales signed with the Ravens but had a short stint in Baltimore, lasting just over a year before being waived at the beginning of the 2012 NFL season. Following his release, Scales moved on to play for several other teams, including the Miami Dolphins, New York Jets, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

In 2015, Scales found a more stable opportunity when he joined the Chicago Bears. Since then, he has become a fixture on the Bears’ roster, having signed consecutive one-year contracts with the team each season. His reliability and experience have made him a valuable asset to the special teams unit.

Throughout the 2023 season, Scales was a consistent presence for the Bears, participating in all 17 games. His role as a long snapper was crucial to the team’s operations, demonstrating his importance to the special teams unit.

However, the decision to place Scales on injured reserve indicates that he is currently dealing with an injury that will keep him sidelined for an extended period. This move opens up a spot on the roster, leading to the Bears’ decision to re-sign Khari Blasingame.

Khari Blasingame, a fullback, returns to the Bears following his previous stint with the team. Blasingame’s re-signing adds depth to the fullback position and reinforces the team’s backfield. His versatility and blocking skills make him a valuable contributor to the offensive scheme, providing support in both rushing and pass protection.

The Bears’ roster adjustments reflect their ongoing efforts to maintain and improve their team dynamics as they navigate the season. While Patrick Scales’ absence will be felt on special teams, the addition of Khari Blasingame aims to bolster the team’s overall effectiveness on the field.

As the season progresses, the Bears will look to adapt and find ways to fill the void left by Scales’ injury. Meanwhile, Blasingame’s re-signing is expected to bring stability and reliability to the fullback position, complementing the team’s offensive strategy.
