Balazovic, aged 25, joins the Bears after spending most of his career in the minor leagues, progressing from rookie leagues since 2016.

He made his MLB debut last June with the Minnesota Twins, achieving a 4.44 ERA across 18 games with one win and no losses.

During the 2024 season, the right-handed pitcher played for the St. Paul Saints, the Triple-A affiliate of the Twins, posting a 5.60 ERA over 24 games with five wins and four losses.

In contrast, Alcantara amassed 20 wins for the Bears in 2020 before departing for Japan’s NPB to join the Hanshin Tigers. He returned to the KBO in 2023 but has faced challenges, including a recent appearance against the Lotte Giants where he recorded a high 27.00 ERA after returning from injury earlier this season.

At the time of publication, the Bears were slated to face the Giants on Thursday evening at Jamsil Baseball Stadium in southern Seoul.

REPORT: Twins Actively Seeking Trade Partners for TC Bear Ahead of MLB Trade Deadline

The Twins are considering a major move ahead of the July 30 trade deadline, possibly parting ways with their longtime mascot, TC Bear, amidst concerns over his performance this season.

Team sources suggest that despite TC’s tenure of 24 seasons with the organization, the Twins are evaluating options to enhance their mascot presence. TC’s season has seen highs and lows, including a demotion to the minor leagues due to a slow start. General Manager Derek Falvey acknowledged TC’s historical significance but emphasized the need for change due to evolving performance standards.

“TC underwent bear-bitration last winter, marking the last chance for the Twins to secure value via trade,” said Falvey, setting the stage for a potential exit. Critics have highlighted declining on-field contributions and off-putting issues with TC’s physical condition, prompting internal discussions about his future with the team.

“While discussions around TC’s future intensify, the Twins face a crucial decision on how to navigate this unexpected transition,” noted team evaluator Greggory Masterson. Players have even requested operational changes due to concerns over TC’s hygiene, highlighting internal dynamics influencing the team’s mascot strategy.

As TC navigates uncertain waters, the Twins are exploring both immediate and long-term options, including internal promotions and potential external acquisitions to fill the mascot role.
